Our Story
Housed in the most prestigious parts of Sri Lanka and nestled between the sturdy ramparts built by the Portuguese, Dutch & English in Galle Fort, lies ‘AZEIYA’. A name synonymous for its legacy built over four grand generations of jewelers.
Born and bred in the Galle Fort is Hirzan Nasar, the founder of Azeiya. Having completed his secondary education , he then went on to kickstart his career in finance, this valuable beginning equipped him with the necessary experience and skill and further fuelled his thought process to pursue something more closer to his heart.
Growing up as a young boy in the company of his grandfather within Galle Fort, He mostly grew up watching the daily gem procurement by his family. He fondly reminisces about his childhood days, where he watched in wonder as rough stones were meticulously polished, cut, and faceted, undergoing a stunning transformation into radiant gems. The gems would then find their place in exquisite jewelry and how individuals from various corners of the globe adored it.
Hirzan’s deep passion for gems, its journey of marvel,a genuine love and appreciation for its Beauty, Rarity and Optical effects of each gem urged him to pursue the undeniable calling in him, to continue the golden heritage of his family’s traditional business eventually, and thus began the birth of ‘Azeiya’ in 2015.
Certified as a Gemologist by Gem A (UK), Hirzan’s educational background in gemology holds immense value within the world of jewelry and gemstone trade. Gem A, the Gemmological Association of the United Kingdom, is renowned globally for its rigorous gemology programs and certification standards.
A gemologist education from Gem A equips individuals with a deep understanding of gemstones, including their identification, grading, and evaluation based on various factors. Gemologists are trained to distinguish between natural and synthetic gemstones, recognize treatments and enhancements, and assess the overall quality and value of gemstones.
